A Community-Driven Landmark

Ravenswood Gateway Towers

Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce

The Ravenswood Towers signify industrial heritage, creativity, and a sense of community.

The Grand Entrance to the Ravenswood Corridor

The Ravenswood Towers stand as the grand entrance to the Industrial Corridor. The towers were erected on June 1st, 2019, and they symbolize our community’s artisan spirit and creativity. Beyond Design developed and stylized two unique designs to create two unique towers that complement and embody Ravenswood.

Local businesses and residents collaborated to conceive, design, and construct the towers. They were built from reclaimed Chicago brick and metal to represent the area’s rich industrial heritage and resourcefulness. The design took inspiration from the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, using geometric lines to signify industrial history and curved, flowing motifs to harmonize with the nearby gardens. The twin canopies of the towers reflect light, creating an inspiring glow that represents safety and acceptance.

Community Collaboration

The realization of the Ravenswood Towers was a collaborative effort involving Beyond Design, Hayes Properties, Special Service Area #31, Ravenswood Community Council, the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce, Foster Dale Architects, and Moments Notice Services. This partnership highlights the collective commitment to enhancing and celebrating our community.

The garden around the eastern tower includes a memorial dedicated to Diane Walch (June 1953 – August 2015), a cherished member of the Ravenswood community. Diane was a longtime Hayes Properties employee and SSA commissioner who tirelessly advocated for local small businesses, residents, and the creative community. Under her leadership, local arts programs, green landscaping efforts, and bike-friendly infrastructure were added to the neighborhood. Diane’s legacy continues to inspire and shape Ravenswood.

The Ravenswood Towers are more than just structures; they are symbols of community resilience, creativity, and collaboration. As they continue to greet artisans, welcome visitors, and light up our evenings, they remind Ravenswood of its history and what we can achieve together.
